| Powers and Hall Play Music of Calvin Hampton at Trinity Church, Wall Street |
| On Friday, December 1, Bill Powers and Jonathan Hall opened a concert for World AIDS Day at Trinity Church, Wall Street. Working for the first time with the new Marshall and Ogletree digital organ, they presented Calvin Hampton's Variations on "Amazing Grace." Calvin Hampton died in 1984 as a result of AIDS complications. During his twenty years in Manhattan, he was a good friend of Trinity Church and its previous music director, Larry King. His successor, Dr. Owen Burdick, and Dr. David Hurd, co-produced the program, which featured music of Hampton, Chris DeBlasio, and others. |
