| Spring, 2007 Updates |
| This spring sees the completion of several new projects in Jonathan Hall's active career. He is pleased to announce the debut recording on the new Odell organ, opus 645, in the United Methodist Church of Westport and Weston, Connecticut. Working closely with organ builder Edward Odell and the church's music director, Todd Simmons, Hall has crafted a sensitive and varied program that shows off the many beautiful sonorities of this fine new organ. He also edited the recording for production. This disc will be available at the upcoming Region II AGO convention, to be held in midtown Manhattan this July, as well as at the subsequent NPM convention in Indianapolis, and directly from J. H. and C. S. Odell, pipe organ builders of East Hampton, Connecticut. Hall has also seen the publication of two articles in two successive issues of The American Organist magazine. First, in the May 2007 issue, there is a tribute to the late Mary Ann Dodd, his friend and fellow scholar. Second, in the June issue, there is a definitive report on an important symposium held in Cincinnati last year at the Plum Street Temple. Hall, who spoke at this symposium, is also very pleased to have the opportunity to report on it in its entirety. The summer holds a major recital in North Carolina on the Fourth of July, as well as continued work as a private teacher of organ and piano, and continued research and writing on the lives of American organists. A trip to the Adirondacks is probably in the cards as well. |
