Brooklyn Meets Philadelphia, Monday, January 16, 2006
Once again, the Brooklyn Chapter celebrated the national holiday in honor of Dr. King with a road trip.  This year, we went to Philadelphia.  We saw two magnificent organs and had a great dinner.
First stop, of course, where else?!  Wanamaker's, now Lord and Taylor.  We found a national landmark organ returning to full strength steadily and surely.
These photos may not be reproduced!  Parts of the Grand Court console.
Our terrific tour guide, Wally McLean.  He's the kind of volunteer any organization, anywhere, would "kill for."  Friendly, unflappable (and unstoppable--he'd been hit by a CAR a few days previous), all the right keys on his keyring...thank you, Wally!  Thanks too to Sam Whitcraft, assistant curator!
Caught in the act!  A scholar discourses to a rapt audience....
Have you joined this chapter yet?

We had lunch there too, and heard the noontime recital, which concluded with an improv on "We Shall Overcome," to great applause.  The store's food and service were all A+.
