Above all else, Jonathan Hall is known as an organist. His work as a solo
performer, accompanist, and church and synagogue musician speaks for itself.

Overcoming an extremely late start in musical study---among other
obstacles---Hall went on to achieve the highest credentials the field can offer.
Too old to enter a competition, he still garnered prizes and acclaim.

--Master of Music with Honors, Chicago Musical College (now Chicago College of the
Performing Arts) of Roosevelt University, 1995. His master's recital achieved the first
score of 100% in faculty memory, and he graduated with a 4.0.

--Associate of the American Guild of Organists, with Associateship Prize and S. Lewis
Elmer Prize
for highest scores in his category, and highest score overall.

--Fellow of the American Guild of Organists, the Guild's highest certification,
1999--achieved while undertaking full-time graduate study at a top music school,
teaching at the same school half-time, and taking active part in the musical scene in
Indianapolis.

--Doctor of Music, 2001, the School of Music (now the Jacobs School of Music) of
Indiana University, Bloomington.

--Fellow of Trinity College London, 2003, in Organ. This post-baccalaureate
certification was undertaken in order for Hall to engage with the UK/Commonwealth
system of musical education.

--Choirmaster of the American Guild of Organists, 2009.

All of these degrees and certificates (and prizes) were earned during the course of an
extremely demanding, regular schedule of services, rehearsals, recital work, Guild
service, and other projects.
Academic degrees only tell one part of the story. Information on JBH as a
distinguished organ recitalist is forthcoming.
