| For Everything There Is a Season... |
| My dear cat of many years, Miss Chutney of the South Side of Chicago, died in July of 2005. On January 15, 2006, we decided it was time to move forward. So we made a trip to the Bergen County Animal Shelter, and walked into that depressing room full of cat cages. No sooner had we walked in than a young black-and-white male cat provisionally named "Emerald" began to prance and frisk for us. We looked at every other cat in the place, but kept coming back to our eager friend. In short order, the paperwork was done and he came home to Brooklyn. He already seems to be drawn to sitting in windows and has expressed a food preference or two. So, meet Nocturne. (His name actually wasn't my idea, as I grew up with a cat by that name, for a short time. But I like the name, and it fits.) |
