Among his other gifts, Jonathan Hall, ASCAP, is a fine,
musical, craftsmanlike composer. His interests are in classical
forms, in particular music suitable for church and synagogue.
He writes for organ, piano, vocal solo, choir, and recorder. He
says:
I'm in conversations right now with an up-and-coming
community of organ and keyboard composers about a
publishing arrangement.
A few of my pieces are available in back issues of The
Organist's Companion and The Keyboardist's Year, both
current or former products of Wayne Leupold. Several of my
Judaic arrangements are available through Transcontinental
Music, the publishing arm of the Union for Reform Judaism.
I hope to have an announcement soon, with links and
purchasing information. Thank you, again, for your interest.
Listen! A MIDI instrumental version of Cor Pastoris, a chant in the style of Taizé
composed and copyright ©2008 by Jonathan B. Hall. The Latin text (written and ©2008
JBH) draws in part on the Pentecost sequence Veni Sancte Spiritus. Originally written
for the 2007 Ecumenical Synod of the Order of the Shepherd's Heart, held in Branson,
Missouri, it is soon to be made available for purchase via this website.
It is tedious but necessary to repeat that this tune, text, and
arrangement is protected by Federal copyright law.
