| Sunday, October 3, 2004: Brooklyn Chapter Holds Joint Service with American Institute of Organbuilders, Brooklyn Heights. |
| On Sunday, October 3, the Brooklyn Chapter held its annual Service of Installation at St. Charles Borromeo Church in the Heights, home church of our Dean, Don Barnum.. Pictured here being installed are Don, Mick Tucci, and Hope Engelsen; Chaplain Grzelak sits at the high altar, to your right. The service was shared with the American Institute of Organbuilders, and the prelude to the service was calculated to also be a demonstration of the great Odell. In the organ loft with organist Jonathan Hall was the great-grandson of the builder, and current curator, Ed Odell. Barnum also led a substantial festival choir in the Dyson Mag and Nunc in D, and in the C. H. H. Parry anthem "I Was Glad." Refreshments afterwards included Coney Island style hot dogs, authentic Brooklyn Egg Creams, and the usual fine wines and cheeses! Afterwards, the sidewalk cafes of Brooklyn Heights were filled with organbuilders and organists, enjoying one another's company and reveling in the beauty of the neighborhood. |
